“Visualization is daydreaming with a purpose.” -Bo Bennett

Did you do a lot of daydreaming when you were young?  Staring out the window of Math class and imagining going home early? Or thinking about playing with your friends rather than joining your parents at a family dinner?

Sigmund Freud, the father of psychology, said that daydreaming is a form of expressing your repressed feelings.

Simply put, daydreaming is imagining something.  But if you daydream with a purpose, Bo Bennet (a social psychologist) says you’re actually teaching your subconscious what you want to achieve.

Through visualization, you are invoking the Law of Attraction through your thoughts, which is essential for manifestation.  In other words, manifestation will not exist without visualization.

In this article, we’ll teach you 5 simple visualization tools you can start using today, as well as how to make different types of vision boards to go with your chosen visualization technique.

Visuals Improve Learning

Before we present these 5 visualization tools, we wanted to share a study showcasing the effectiveness of using visuals in terms of learning and memory.

This study was done by researchers at Michigan State University.  They identified 200 emergency room patients who received treatments for lacerations.  Before these patients were discharged, the researchers gave them instructions on how to care for their wounds.

One group of patients received instructions in text only, while another group was given instructions in text and visual graphics of said instructions.

After three days, the researchers followed up and asked the patients if they learned how to care for their wounds and if they applied the instructions.

Among the patients who received instructions in text and graphics, 46% showed superior recall of the information given, while only 6% of the patients in the text-only instructions showed any awareness.

The researchers also revealed that the group who received the instructions in text and graphics showed 43% better memory recall of the information compared to the group who only received instructions in text.

The study showed that visuals are more effective at relaying information versus text or words.

This information supports the idea that vision boards are more effective at information processing and memory recall, compared to to-do lists, journaling, or worksheets where you only write down your goals.

Making Different Types of Vision Boards

The effectiveness of vision boards in helping you achieve your goals is well-documented and the study mentioned above is just one of the many research studies that show the benefits of using visuals in learning, memory, and goal-setting.

To harness the power of visuals for manifesting your dreams, you can choose different types of vision boards.

Here is a list of the different types of vision boards you can make:

  1. Physical Vision Board

The golden standard for dream boards is a physical vision board.  There’s nothing more effective and fulfilling than cutting out images from magazines and making a collage of your dreams, then mounting them on a poster board.

Though cutting out picture ideas from old magazines is the typical way of using visuals for your dream board, there’s an easier and more practical way.

The Vision Cloud is a company that’s dedicated to making vision board-making a fun, easy, and powerful way to manifest dreams.

With a mission to help as many people find happiness, achieve their goals, and make you believe that anything is possible, The Vision Cloud creates a platform that allows you to design and create your dream life with confidence.

  1. Digital Dream Board

If buying vision board supplies and cutting out pictures from magazines isn’t your thing, you’ll be happy to know that you can make digital dream boards in just minutes.

Apps like Pinterest, Canva, Visuapp, and other digital vision board-making tools are easily available for free.  You get to have access to billions of images, get to share your board and have access to your college no matter where you are.

It’s perfect for tech-savvy individuals who want to have access to their boards whether they’re traveling or at work.

  1. Corkboard

A corkboard is also a great way to mount visuals of your goals.  What’s great about a corkboard is that you can easily edit picture ideas of your goals anytime you want since you won’t be gluing them on a board.

Simply pin pictures of your goals and change them as much as you want or until you’ve achieved them.

Other types of vision boards include vision board templates, collage-making software, and other types where you can add images to any material, whether physical or digital.

4. Visualization Tools

To ensure using visuals to manifest your goals will work, you also need to practice visualization techniques along with your vision board.

Here are 4 simple visualization tools you can start practicing right now:

  1. Daydream

As mentioned earlier in this article, daydreaming can help you manifest your goals.  But when you daydream, do it with a purpose.

Don’t just daydream of things you want to buy or want to do, but make sure you’re daydreaming about achieving your goals and living your dream life.

Schedule a time to daydream to ensure you get to practice it every day.  You can daydream about your goals before you sleep when you wake up, or when you’re on a break from work.

Make a commitment to practice visualization techniques until you reach your goal.

  1. Picture and Describe

You can also practice a mental exercise called “Picture and Describe.”  Visualize or imagine your goals coming true.  As you close your eyes and imagine the picture of the outcome of your goals, describe what they are and how you will feel once you’ve achieved them.

Feel the emotions and physical sensations of having your dreams come true.  For example, you want to attract your dream car.  Close your eyes, picture the interiors, feel the leather seats, smell the fresh aroma of a new car, feel the sensations of holding the steering wheel, and imagine yourself driving in the city or country with this car.

As you visualize it, say the descriptions out loud as you’re closing your eyes.  This will help you feel the emotions of experiencing it in your life. It’s also a way to set your intentions loudly into the Universe.

  1. Use Guided Visualization Meditation

If daydreaming or simple visualization is not working for you or you’re constantly distracted, try guided meditation.  You can hire a professional or you can find videos on YouTube that offer guided meditation scripts.

Use headphones and listen to these videos as you drift away and daydream about the life you want to have.

This is a great way for anyone who can’t meditate or has never practiced visualization before and wants to get started with the help of another person.

  1. Expose Yourself

Expose yourself to people, experiences, and places that represent your goals.  For example, you want to open a small coffee shop and it’s been your dream for many years.  Expose yourself by getting to know small coffee shop owners and asking them for tips, or spending time in similar coffee shops and feeling all the emotions and sensations of owning one.

You can also attend workshops, take classes on opening a business, and just put yourself in places where the overall vibrational energy aligns with your dream and vision.

By exposing yourself to these experiences, not only will you be inspired and motivated, but you’ll fill yourself with knowledge on how to actually make your dream come true.

When making any type of vision board, it’s not enough that you make them and that’s it.  Remember we said earlier in this article that there is no manifestation without visualization.  So make a commitment to practice visualization techniques that go with your vision board.

Choose any of these visualization tools or you can also integrate all of these techniques in your Law of Attraction practice.

But don’t stop when you’ve finally achieved your goal.  You can continue making different types of vision boards until you’ve created and manifested your dream life.

The Law of Attraction is not just a practice or concept but it’s a way of life.  Creating your life is a never-ending process and doesn’t it feel good to know that you have the power to create it?

When you believe in yourself, the Universe will conspire to help you manifest whatever you want to attract.
