A Roadmap to Success: Making a Plan with Career Vision Board Templates

Are you a fresh graduate looking to start your career?  Or maybe you’re on the path of changing careers or improving your professional life?  If yes, then this is for you.

This is an article talking about why a career is important in your life, why you should choose one that you love, and how to use career vision board templates to help you find and achieve your goals.

Do you know that 3 in every 10 Americans say the work they do is “just a job to get them by” instead of an actual career?  Yes, a significant number of American workers say they only do their jobs for the money and to survive day by day.

On the other hand, a Purdue University study shows that people who love their jobs say that a fulfilling career is more important than money and that a career they’re passionate about can even lead to a higher likelihood of success.

Using information from these studies shows that choosing a career that you love is key to happiness, as well as success.

WHY A CAREER IS IMPORTANT

Let’s first talk about the difference between a career and a job.  A job is a work that you do to earn money, while a career is a long-term endeavor and something that you build over time.

A job involves completing tasks to earn an income, whereas a career is something that you work on every day, where you develop skills to achieve a bigger goal.

You can have many different jobs over a lifetime, but a career is more secure and permanent, and something that you invest in.

Here are some of the reasons why you need a career:

  1. FULFILLMENT

Having a sense of fulfillment is one of the key elements of happiness.  When you have a career that you work for and achieve significant success, you will experience life satisfaction, which is essential for good mental health.  In other words, a career you’re passionate about helps you become happier.  And isn’t that the goal in life? To simply be happy?

  1. LONG-TERM FINANCIAL SECURITY

A career that you built over many years gives you more financial security versus jumping from one job to another.  Because you’ve developed skills to improve yourself, it becomes easier for you to move up the corporate ladder, or provide higher-quality services.

Financial security is one of the most basic needs of man, and without it, you can suffer from lower quality of life, and financial hardships can even cause physical and mental problems.

  1. A SENSE OF PURPOSE

What makes you get up from bed in the morning?  And what makes you keep going day by day?  A career gives you a sense of purpose, which leads to overall life satisfaction.

According to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, self-esteem is the 2nd highest level of satisfaction in life.  Achievement, confidence, and recognition are some of the results of a fulfilling career.

Now that you know that a career is important, it’s time to learn that not all careers can lead to these benefits.  There is a pressing need to choose careers that you love, to help avoid burnout.

As the famous saying goes, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

CHOOSING A CAREER YOU LOVE

Studies show that people who are happy have a tendency to have higher salaries.  Data also shows that people who have jobs that they love tend to be high earners.

Numbers show a correlation between high-income earners with those who love what they do, so can this be the answer to having a fulfilling and productive career?

According to Amir Zonori, who is the co-founder and president of Zoomph, he says that “When you love what you do, you are more compelled to push against yourself.”  He also added, “You do your best because it’s natural and exciting.”

Another successful business owner, Michael Phillips, who is the co-founder and CEO of Coconut’s Fish Cafe, stated, “When you enjoy your job, it doesn’t feel like work, and it makes it easier to get through the trials and tribulations of business ownership.”

Studies and testimonials go to show that choosing a career based on happiness is imperative for a life of satisfaction.  Because of this, we highly encourage you to find your passion and go in the direction that leads to your own idea of what happiness is.

Here are reasons why you should choose a career that you love:

  1. YOU’LL BE HAPPIER

As mentioned earlier, having a career you love leads to fulfillment, a sense of achievement, confidence, and overall life satisfaction.  Studies even show that a job that you love can help you live longer.

A study was conducted at the University College of London and involved over 11,000 people ages 50 and above over the course of ten years.  The researchers asked the subjects to rate their happiness 4 times a day, as well as getting their saliva samples.

The study discovered that participants who reported themselves to be the happiest were 35% less likely to die within the next 5 years, as compared to the group who reported feeling less happy.

  1. YOU’LL HAVE BETTER RELATIONSHIPS

It is known that work-related stress adds to conflicts in relationships.  If you’re unhappy at work, you’ll most likely extend your negative mood at home.

However, when you feel good, when you enjoy what you’re doing, you will bring that positivity into your personal life, and it overflows into your personal relationships.

Thus, being happy and satisfied with your career increases your likelihood of having happy and healthy relationships.

  1. YOU’LL INSPIRE OTHERS

Happiness and success are inspiring, especially when they go hand-in-hand.  You never know, but your family, friends, and co-workers may even be using you as a role model to help them choose careers they’re passionate about because they see the positive effects it has on you.

  1. YOU’LL BE MORE SUCCESSFUL

A career that makes you feel inspired and motivated makes you more productive.  Because you are passionate about what you’re doing, you are more likely to have an active interest in every single detail of your job or business.  Because of your natural inclination to be productive, you are more than likely to achieve success in your career.

Here are some tips to making sure you make your career vision board right and effective:

  1. Keep it Visible

The process of making a vision board is exciting and rewarding but sometimes, you tend to set your board aside and forget about it.  You need to place your finished dream board in a place where you get to see it every day.

Place it in front of your desk at work, in your workspace, or even in your personal space at home.  Keep it visible so you are reminded every day of your career goals.

  1. Be Specific

When making career goals, be as specific as possible.  What company do you want to work in?  What position?  What will you be doing?  How much will you be making?  What will your office look like?

Visualize every single detail of your dream job or career and be as specific as possible.

  1. Practice Visualization Techniques

And lastly, it’s not enough that you make and complete your career dream board.  You need to practice visualization techniques, such as the Whisper Method Manifestation Technique, Scripting, the 55×5 Manifesting Method, the Angel Number Manifestation Method, and so much more.

You need to live and breathe your dreams until they become true.

Making a plan to have the career that you love is key to helping you manifest this dream.  You need to take the steps to achieve your goals, and using a career vision board template can help you get your foot in the door.

A goal starts somewhere, and using a vision board to help you manifest your career goals can give you the drive, inspiration, and motivation you need to fulfill them.
